OPEIU Local 39 Rally and March for a Fair Contract

Our brothers and sisters who work at TruStage, formerly CUNA Mutual, in Madison are in an intense battle for a fair contract. After a two week strike in May, OPEIU Local 39 members are back at work while contract negotiations continue. This Saturday, July 29, in Madison, OPEIU Local 39 members will hold a march and rally for a fair contract.

Please join us in solidarity as we stand together to call for a fair contract at TruStage/CUNA Mutual.

Rally to Keep Master Lock Jobs in Milwaukee

Join UAW Local 469 members for a picket and rally to keep good union Master Lock jobs in Milwaukee.  

 

When: Thursday, July 20. Picket line starts at 1:30pm with rally at 3:15pm.

 

Where: Center Street between 32nd and 33rd Street in Milwaukee

Fortune Brands has refused to enter into discussions with UAW union leadership to discuss their announcement of the planned closure of the Master Lock Milwaukee facility. Master Lock recently announced the company’s decision to close their Milwaukee plant after 100 years, leaving some 400 workers without a job. Master Lock was founded in Milwaukee and is a manufacturing icon of our state. It is the hard work, skills and dedication of Wisconsin workers that has made Master Lock successful.  

 

Join together with UAW Local 469 members as we call on Master Lock to keep the Milwaukee plant open and keep good union manufacturing jobs in Wisconsin.

Strike Support: Teamsters Local 662 on strike at Leinenkugel's and New Dairy Select Milk

Members of Teamsters Local 662 are on strike at two locations in Wisconsin. In Chippewa Falls, members of Teamsters Local 662 are on strike at Leinenkugel’s Brewing Company. In De Pere, members of Teamsters Local 662 are on strike at New Dairy Select Milk, which produces sour cream for well-known brands such as Taco Bell, Wendy’s and Hello Fresh.

New Dairy Select Milk Picket Line: 3399 S Ridge Rd., De Pere, WI. 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Leinenkugel’s Brewing Picket Line: 124 E Elm St, Chippewa Falls, WI. 6:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday-Saturday.

At New Dairy Select Milk, negotiations have reached a stand-off over the company’s refusal to reach a compromise on the workers’ health care coverage. Teamsters Local 662 is pushing for the workers to join a Teamster health care plan, which would offer better coverage at a lower rate for both parties.  

Leinenkugel’s Brewing Company workers represented by Teamsters Local 662 went on strike after rejecting meager wage increases offered by the beermaker, which is owned by the global brewery giant Molson Coors.

Both strikes began on July 10.

Teamsters Local 662 members in Wisconsin are standing up for better wages, better healthcare and to protect our middle class. The union men and women of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO are proud to stand in steadfast solidarity in the fight for fair contracts at Leinenkugel's Brewing in Chippewa Falls and at New Dairy Select Milk in De Pere.

It is only by standing shoulder to shoulder in unity that workers receive the wages and working conditions we deserve.

Special Election Alert AD24: Vote Tuesday, July 18

Voters in Wisconsin’s 24^th Assembly District will head to the polls on Tuesday, July 18 for a special election to fill a vacant seat in Wisconsin’s State Legislature.

The Wisconsin AFL-CIO has endorsed Bob Tatterson for Assembly District 24 in the special election.

Bob Tatterson is a former volunteer fire fighter and engineer, who will protect our rights and wages as workers as well as fight for key investments that benefit working families. Tatterson wants more investment in public safety, good roads, and stronger public schools. And he completely supports our freedom to join a union, collectively bargain, and earn a prevailing wage.  

Located in southeastern Wisconsin, Assembly District 24 includes parts of southern Ozaukee County, southeast Washington County, and northeast Waukesha County. It includes the villages of Germantown and Grafton, as well as a parts of Mequon and Menomonee Falls.
