United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 578 members are fighting to build our middle class with good union jobs by calling for the construction of the new U.S. Postal Service delivery vehicle fleet to be built union-made in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (formerly Oshkosh Truck), was recently awarded a 10-year, multibillion-dollar government contract to build tens of thousands of vehicles, including electric vehicles, for the next generation of mail delivery trucks for the United States Postal Service (USPS).
Despite being fully able to build the new postal trucks union-made in Wisconsin, Oshkosh Defense is trying to undermine good union jobs by producing outside of their union plants in Wisconsin.
We can and should be building the trucks for the United States Postal Service at the Wisconsin headquarters of Oshkosh Corporation where there is a highly skilled union workforce ready and able to build the new USPS fleet.
Building union is building better. UAW workers in Oshkosh are covered by a collective bargaining agreement that will ensure workplace protections, fair wages, and family-sustaining benefits that build our middle class and create strong communities.
Build it union. Build it in Oshkosh.
