The Wisconsin labor movement continues to mourn our friend and leader, AFL-CIO President Richard L. Trumka. Read Richard L. Trumka, Sr. full obituary here.
On Thursday, August 12, at 10:00 a.m. central time, President Trumka's family and friends will hold a private service for him in Pennsylvania. If you would like to watch, the national AFL-CIO will be livestreaming the service at www.aflcio.org or https://www.facebook.com/aflcio. Please feel free to join.
On Saturday, August 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. eastern time, President Trumka will lie in repose at AFL-CIO headquarters, at the building he loved, at 815 Black Lives Matter Plaza (16th St. NW), Washington, D.C. You are most welcome to come and pay your respects as he visits the House of Labor one last time. All safety protocols will be strictly enforced, including mask requirements and social distancing.
The AFL-CIO also will hold a public memorial service for President Trumka at a later date with details forthcoming.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Penn State’s Scholarship Fund, which was started in Richard Trumka’s memory. The memo should reference: ‘Trumka Family Trustee Scholarship/ SCBTK’. As Wisconsin AFL-CIO President Bloomingdale stated, “we are grateful for President Richard Trumka’s many decades of leadership and heartfelt solidarity to his fellow workers. His fight to give working people in Wisconsin and beyond a voice in our workplaces will continue. As we pause to salute one of our struggle’s true heroes, we will honor his memory by continuing the work to which he dedicated his life."
