Coronavirus cases and unemployment numbers are climbing, and yet Majority Leader Mitch McConnell continues to delay the next coronavirus economic relief package that working families across our country are waiting for.
America faces a crisis on three critical fronts: a public health pandemic, an economic free fall and long-standing structural racism. Working people need safe jobs, economic security and freedom from systemic racism. Delivering on the economic essentials included in the HEROES Act is an absolute minimum.
It’s been 70 days of inaction.
Call 866-832-1560 to join the labor movement’s calls to urge Senate action for working families and the passage of the HEROES Act.
The House passed the HEROES Act, a bill which encompasses America’s Five Economic Essentials, on May 15. For two months, the Senate has not brought this critical legislation to the floor, nor has it proposed any alternative solution. The number of people who have been infected with COVID-19 has exponentially increased in nearly every state, and millions of Americans have been left unemployed through no fault of their own.
The HEROES Act was designed to save lives and livelihoods. Without action, working people will continue to get sick on the job and/or lose jobs. We need a strong, federal response for working people that delivers America’s Five Economic Essentials of:
- Keep front-line workers safe and secure.
- Keep workers employed and protect earned pension checks.
- Keep state and local governments, our public schools and the U.S. Postal Service solvent and working.
- Keep America healthy—protect and expand health insurance for all workers.
- Keep America competitive—hire people to build infrastructure.
Call 866-832-1560 and tell the Senate to get back to work, pass the HEROES Act, and do what is right for our health, our economy and our country.
