Millions of Americans have already lost their jobs and millions more on the front lines of the COVID-19 global pandemic are putting their lives on the line to keep our communities safe and healthy.
Congress must act now to protect working people and keep communities healthy and safe as we restart our economy.
America's Five Economic Essentials:
- Keep America healthy—protect and expand health insurance for all workers.
- Keep front-line workers safe and secure.
- Keep workers employed and protect earned pension checks.
- Keep public schools going, the Postal Service solvent, state and local governments running.
- Keep America competitive—hire people to build infrastructure.
These five essentials will ensure working people are at the center of America’s recovery from this crisis.
While the initial recovery actions taken by Congress have helped many, there is much more to be done to protect working families and stabilize our economy. Too much has been aimed at large corporations, not communities and families.
Without more direct help, hardworking people and their families will continue to spiral downward, and critical services and our public schools could face massive cuts.
We can’t afford to lose the health, safety, postal and public school services anchoring our recovery.
