Registered Nurses at UW Health are forming their union and need your help.
What: UWHCA Union Nurses Town Hall and Solidarity Committee
When: Wednesday, January 29th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm
Where: Madison Labor Temple, 1602 S Park St. Rooms 201A & B
Nearly a month ago, dozens of nurses went to the UW Hospitals and Clinics Authority Board (UWHCA) to demand recognition of their union on behalf of the significant majority who have signed up. After the expiration of their last union contract in 2014, these nurses have given the hospital a chance to address their concerns through the established committees that the hospital administers, but have seen no meaningful progress on their patient care concerns. Morale is at an all-time low, and in the middle of a national nursing shortage, we cannot afford to lose more veteran nurses to burn out.
These brave nurses have made a decision: they are prepared to take significant risks on behalf of their profession and their patients: us, Wisconsin’s residents. And we must support them!
You are strongly encouraged to attend a Town Hall meeting hosted by UW Health nurses demanding a union and SCFL. There will be a panel of nurses sharing their story and fielding questions from labor brothers and sisters.
Many of you have asked how you can help these nurses. This is your chance. Come meet the nurses organizing at UW Health and learn how you can help make sure the UWHCA board does the right thing.
