This Labor Day, the American people are supporting labor unions like never before. A new Gallup poll released just this week found that 64% of Americans support unions – a near 50-year high. As we head into a holiday for celebration and solidarity, we remember that Labor Day isn’t just a day off -- it’s a reminder that when working people come together, we’re powerful.
Wisconsin labor councils and local unions are hosting great events to celebrate labor. Click here to find a local union-made Labor Day parade, picnic or event near you.
This weekend, we pause and honor the achievements of America’s workers and our labor movement. From safe workplaces to the 8-hour day, overtime, workers’ compensation, weekends off and paid holidays to spend with family -- we pay respect to all those who stood together in union before us to advance the rights of working people. We look to the future and continue to build solidarity to strengthen union rights and improve our workplaces.
This Labor Day, we encourage everyone to come out to a great union-made parade or picnic and honor America’s workers while we pledge to fight for a better tomorrow with strong unions
