The Supreme Court race between Wisconsin AFL-CIO endorsed candidate Judge Lisa Neubauer and Brian Hagedorn, Scott Walker’s lawyer, is still too close to call. With more than 1.2 million votes cast, less than 6,000 votes separate the candidates at the top of the ticket.
This is one of the closest races in Wisconsin history. Every vote should count.
Across the ballot, union members saw great results in last night’s election with union-endorsed candidates being elected in large numbers in Wisconsin. In Green Bay, AFSCME member Eric Genrich was elected mayor. In Madison, AFT member Satya Rhodes-Conway was elected mayor. We saw wins for union-endorsed candidates and union members in school board races, aldermanic seats, circuit court judges, city council and village trustee. Congratulations to all the union members and union-endorsed candidates who won election last night!
But make no mistake. This election is not over yet. We are still waiting for the results of the official canvass which could determine if a recount is needed in the Supreme Court race.
The official canvass is the time to double check for any irregularities, missing ballots, lost bags of votes, or any other of a number of issues that could have arisen during the election.
In the 2011 Supreme Court race between JoAnne Kloppenburg and David Prosser, thousands of late votes were discovered in Waukesha County, flipping the Election Night results. That race wasn’t over until it was over.
Every vote should be counted. Wisconsinites deserves to have confidence in our elections and our democracy.

Let’s count every single vote.
