Bloomingdale joins local union workers in solidarity to stop Right to Work in Missouri
(ST. LOUIS, JULY, 27, 2018) – Missouri workers are leading the charge to educate and get out the NO vote on Proposition A to stop Missouri’s Right to Work law from going into effect. Right to Work is an attack on the rights of working people, our wages and our ability to have a strong middle class. Stephanie Bloomingdale, Secretary-Treasurer of the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO, will travel to Missouri this weekend, bringing a message of solidarity and inspiration from Wisconsin workers to Missouri workers mobilizing in support of worker rights.
Bloomingdale is joining the Missouri State AFL-CIO and St. Louis area workers to hit the streets and have front porch step conversations about the need to stop Right to Work in Missouri. Prop A, on the ballot across Missouri on August 7, will lower wages and hurt local businesses that rely on spending from Missouri working people.
“Right to Work will hurt middle class families by driving down wages and failing to create jobs,” said Stephanie Bloomingdale, Secretary-Treasurer of the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO. “We have learned in Wisconsin that Right to Work does not create one single job. All these corporate-driven attacks do is lower wages and weaken our middle class.”
“I’m here to join Missouri workers to stand up for strong unions which we all know is the key to a healthy middle class,” continued Bloomingdale. “Politicians should be passing laws that strengthen our schools, protect our communities and help create good-paying jobs. Instead they chose to tip the scale against workers with these so-called Right to Work laws.”
