Brothers and Sisters,
Voters in Wisconsin sent a loud message Tuesday night and overwhelming elected Wisconsin AFL-CIO endorsed candidate Rebecca Dallet to a 10-year term on Wisconsin’s Supreme Court. Union-backed candidates won up and down the ballot across the state as voters went to the polls in large numbers to put a check on Gov. Scott Walker.
Union members have been knocking on neighbor’s doors and calling fellow brothers and sisters to spread the word on endorsed candidates and educate why Rebecca Dallet is the best choice for Wisconsin’s Supreme Court. On Tuesday night, the hard work of countless union families paid off as voters went to the polls to bring balance to our Supreme Court and elect local leaders who will protect the rights of workers.
Rebecca Dallet campaigned on kicking special interest influence out of our Supreme Court. This win signals a shift in Wisconsin as momentum continues to build for candidates who run on platforms of protecting the rights of the people, not the wants of corporate special interests.
This victory for Wisconsin families is one step in our continued fight to unrig an economic and political system that is stacked against working people. The Wisconsin labor movement’s activism and mobilization will continue throughout 2018 as we continue to work to lift up candidates who fight for working people, raise wages and protect the freedom to collectively bargain.
