Join AFGE members, concerned citizens and local neighbors standing up for strong public services on Milwaukee's South Side!
WHEN: Wednesday, March 7, 2018, 11:45am to 12:45pm
WHERE: Mitchell Street SSA Branch Office, 1710 S 7th St, Milwaukee, WI 53204
The Social Security Administration is scheduled to close the Mitchell Street Social Security Administration (SSA) Branch Office on March 22. There have been no public meetings or outreach conducted to allow members of the community to weigh in on how this would impact them. SSA is making a unilateral decision that will have grave impacts on one of Milwaukee’s largest Hispanic communities, forcing them to go to offices that are difficult or impossible for them to get to. Field Offices are already facing issues of overcrowding and closing a critical office on Milwaukee’s south side will exacerbate the problem.
We must make the Social Security Administration listen to the community. Please attend this rally to keep our SSA office open!
The Social Security Administration Office helps connect and administer retirement, disability, Medicare and survivor’s benefits -- determining initial eligibility, processing payments, and facilitating contact with the public. Our government works for us and should be easily accessible to all. Let’s stand together to save the Mitchell Street Social Security Administration Office (SSA).
