The Milwaukee Area Labor Council hosted a Labor Breakfast with Congresswoman Gwen Moore. In attendance were a wide range of leaders and workers from affiliates representing workers in Milwaukee as well as across Wisconsin. Representative Gwen Moore outlined upcoming legislation that will impact working people as well as pending court cases that could influence the lives of union members. She encouraged the audience to keep up the energy in contacting Congress and attending town halls and letting your lawmakers hear from you.
Stating that she “doesn’t see this Administration being good on civil rights or labor rights,” Congresswoman Moore talked about the “deconstruction model” that could impact labor laws, explaining “labor laws are a huge part of the regulatory framework, safety and safety regulation that so many take for granted.”
Labor breakfast attendees poised questions and heard from Rep. Moore on a range of issues including security for transportation workers, keeping our Great Lakes clean, rights for special education students in our K-12 schools, affordable healthcare, anti-union bills in Congress and human trafficking.
