“Gov. Walker failed to lay out a vision that will grow Wisconsin’s middle class or help working people get ahead,” said Phil Neuenfeldt, President of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO. “We didn’t hear much from Scott Walker on how he plans to boost workers’ wages or create good, family-supporting jobs. Wisconsin workers are still waiting for the 250,000 jobs Gov. Walker promised during his first term. Seven years later, we’re still waiting for Scott Walker to hit his job growth goal.”
“The new legislative session gives both Republican and Democratic lawmakers alike a chance to renew their focus on helping working families get ahead and ensuring that our economy works for all of us,” said Stephanie Bloomingdale, Secretary-Treasurer of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO. “Instead of ticking through a wish list from campaign donors, Gov. Walker and Republicans should focus on raising wages, protecting our environment with a united DNR, addressing the need of safe drinking water for all Wisconsin families, fixing our crumbling infrastructure and restoring workers’ rights in both the public and private sector. The labor movement stands ready to educate and mobilize in support of pro-worker initiatives that will help working families get ahead by creating a fair economy that works for all.”
