Momentum is building for giving workers a raise! Poll after poll finds strong support among voters for raising the minimum wage.
A poll released March 13, 2014 by UW-Milwaukee shows deep support among Wisconsinites for increasing the minimum wage, with 77% of those polled in favor of a wage increase. The majority of poll respondents supported raising the wage to $10.10 an hour.
Gov. Walker has made it clear he does not support raising wages for workers and senate Republicans voted down an opportunity to raise the minimum wage (SB 505) on March 12. The GOP continues to ignore the needs of Wisconsin workers, but it is clear that public opinion and voters are mandating a minimum wage increase.
A Gallup poll released in November of 2013 showed that more than three quarters (76%) of Americans support an increase in the minimum wage.
Corporate profits are up, Wall Street bonuses are up and it is time for workers’ wages to rise as well!
