On Saturday, February 16 at 12:00 p.m. the Milwaukee Chapters of the A. Philip Randolph Institute and the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists will host the 11th Annual African-American Labor Leadership & Community Summit.
The focus of this year’s Summit will be to identify policy positions for African-Americans and other working families on the issue of job creation. The event aims to develop and launch a collaborative agenda on African-American job creation strategies to be presented to both state and local government for implementation by January 1, 2014.
The format for this year’s event will consist of a panel and audience discussion on the “State of Working Wisconsin” in specific regards to the African-American community. The panel will consist of Professor James H. Peoples, UW-Milwaukee Economics; Laura Dresser, Associate Director of the Center on Wisconsin Strategy; and Fred Redmond, United Steel Workers International Vice President of Human Affairs.
