Wisconsinites are heading to the polls in strong numbers today in an attempt to recall The Walker 6 and bring balance to the state Legislature.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports strong turnoutout in all 6 recall districts with an estimated 70-80% turnout in the Fond du Lac area where Jessica King is challenging anti-worker Senator Randy Hopper. At one polling place in the area voting machines were down for a short time at one polling location. Voters left their ballot in an auxiliary bin and it was later scanned in. Machines are now up and running.
TMJ4 is reporting that turnout is high in Senate District 8, the Milwaukee area, where Sandy Pasch is taking on Walker’s Alberta Darling. As head of the joint finance committee Alberta Darling spear-headed devastating cuts to schools, community and health services while giving millions in tax breaks to her corporate allies.
In Baraboo, the largest city in Senate District 14, Fred Clark is attempting to oust Luther Olsen. Politico reports that turnout is “steady and heavy.”
The Green Bay Press Gazette explains that a steady flow of voters have kept poll workers busy but not overwhelmed. Voters in the second Senate District will decide between working family candidate Nancy Nusbaum and union-busting Senator Robert Cowles.
Green Bay Packer star Gilbert Brown is urging voters in a recorded call to defend Wisconsin and head to the polls to send The Walker 6 packing.
Since Saturday, We are Wisconsin volunteers have knocked on over 220,000 doors! Hundreds of dedicated volunteers are on the streets of Wisconsin right now helping to get out the vote for working family candidates Sandy Pasch, Jessica King, Jennifer Shilling, Fred Clark, Shelly Moore and Nancy Nusbaum.
