Earlier today over 1,000 firefighters, nurses, policemen, steelworkers, farmers and community members marched for a fair and just budget for Wisconsin communities. The march began at the firehouse at 316 West Dayton, continued up State St. through Walkerville, tent city and around the Capitol Square.
The group marched twice around the Capitol before taking their action to M&I Bank to ask for shared sacrifice from corporations. Scott Walker’s budget shifts the tax burden onto Wisconsin’s middle and working classes in order to pay back his wealthy political allies.
The tractors were back on the square as family farmers joined Walkerville in order to call attention to Gov. Walker’s horrendous budget. Local farmers and rural communities will be severely impacted by proposed budget cuts.
A line of union cabs also paraded honking for democracy. Even a few bikers rolled through.
Since February, Wisconsinites from across the state have spoken out against Walker’s reckless budget and the autocratic way in which it was rammed through the legislature, despite massive opposition.
The more than 1,000 participants in today’s march carried signs calling upon Wisconsin Republicans to focus on Wisconsin families and not the wealthy and large corporations. In their attempt to steamroll education, healthcare, seniors’ programs and critical services like first responders, Republicans have alienated countless numbers of voters. With recall elections just one month away, working families across the country are committed to holding Republicans accountable for their bad choices that have server consequences for all Wisconsin families.
Highlighting the fact that the Capitol is virtually closed down the people of Wisconsin, Fire Fighters ended the rally by marching inside the Capitol.

Way to go!!! Fear based, narrow thinking is NOT the WI I know either.
Give us the $ for two military jets, and we'll see how to use it well for the common good/people of WI!!!
