Andrew Puzder, Donald Trump’s pick for Secretary of Labor, has spent his career rigging the system against workers, some of which even made less than minimum wage at his establishments. The fast-food CEO of Hardee’s and Carl's Jr. has made a career out of shortchanging workers while lining his own pockets.
Carl's Jr. workers testified at Capitol Hill last week, Mother Jones reports:
"Mr. Pudzer took a company that I loved and turned it into a business that makes money by stealing from its workers," Laura McDonald, a former 20-year employee at Carl's Jr., told the hearing. "I honestly can't think of anyone less qualified to enforce laws that are supposed to protect employees."
Puzder’s confirmation hearing in the Senate Committee on Health, Education Labor and Pensions is coming up!
Puzder opposes raising the minimum wage and fair overtime protections for workers. He wants to replace workers with robots and is a critic of paid leave. American workers expect that our Labor Secretary will have our backs in the workplace by raising wages, protecting overtime rights, ensuring safe workplaces and expanding workers' freedom to collectively bargain with their employer through strong unions.
