Renita Hoover, of Milwaukee, is the Labor 2012 volunteer of the week. With just over 3 weeks until Election Day on November 6, there is no time to lose!
Now is the time to get involved and volunteer. Every minute counts! Join us as we go door-to-door and make phone calls for Barack Obama, Tammy Baldwin and a score of local candidates.
In her own words, here is why Renita takes the time to volunteer:
"My union involvement goes back several generations. My grandfather was a Pullman Porter. Both of my parents were in the Meat Cutters Union. The Milwaukee Labor Press newspaper was one of the first newspapers I ever read. The union is in my blood. I was a member of AFSCME District Council 48, Local 1624. I served as a steward, DC 48 delegate and as a delegate to the Milwaukee Labor Council. I easily found my place in life working for the betterment and improvement of the quality of life for others."
